Learn Italian in the Alps
Do you love the mountains and want to study Italian amid fresh air and pristine nature?
Would you like to discover a region not yet overrun by tourism?
Then you are very welcome in Forni Avoltri .
What?
Every morning, you have three hours of Italian lessons at your level in small groups (2 to 6 people). Not only will you learn to speak more fluently and expand your vocabulary, I will also introduce you to Italian culture and local traditions.
The lessons take place in a cosy and bright room of the library, in the centre of the town. During the break, you can enjoy the beautiful view from the terrace or have a coffee in the bar next door.
Where?
Forni Avoltri is an authentic mountain village at 900 m altitude in the Carnic Alps, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. It has a small supermarket, a few hotels and cafés, a pharmacy and a bakery. Those who come here on holiday are mainly looking for peace and nature.
You feel even more ‘away from it all’ in Collina, the hamlet of 40 inhabitants where I myself live, at the foot of Monte Coglians (2780 m), the region's highest mountain.
You can do some great hiking here: from simple walks in the valley to long day trips to mountain huts, lakes and impressive peaks.
Also those who love culture will find lots of things to do. In Forni Avoltri and the surrounding area, there are many interesting museums and you can catch concerts and performances at the most beautiful locations. Nearby Sappada, with its typical wooden houses, is also worth a visit.
Of course, you should also taste the regional dishes and local wines. Have you heard of frico, cjarsons or toc' in braide? That glass of friulano is waiting for you!
I love my new region and am happy to advise you, both for walks and cultural excursions.
